David Lereah

President of United We Age

 

David Lereah is the founder and Executive Director of United We Age. His passion to support senior citizens in need stems from his four-year volunteer work for the Meals on Wheels program as well as his battle with stage three esophageal cancer. He is also a Chair for Vistage Florida.

At United We Age, David’s primary objective is to assure that every person experiencing quality of life decline due to aging has a social support network, especially people living alone or in long-term care facilities. The mission of United We Age is to inspire all generations to respect, honor, and and support the aging. Through raising awareness and image building for senior citizens and surveys and research to analyze the effects of anti-aging sentiment on senior citizen life, David and the team at United We Age are dedicated to changing the way our nation treats the people who have paved the way for us. David Lereah’s most recent book, The Power of Positive Aging, was released in June 2020. He’s excited about this work, and hope its message gets disseminated to young and old alike.

In addition to his work with United We Age, David is Chair of Vistage Florida. David is Passionate about business and entrepreneurship, and he’s long seen the importance and benefit of developing strong business acumen in order to help one’s dream reach further than would otherwise be possible.

Prior to his current work, David was the President of Reecon advisors located in Port St. Lucie. Reecon Advisors is an independent economics and information company that provides insight, analysis, and intelligence for the nation’s housing sector.

David Lereah is also a recognized economic expert in the financial services and real estate industries. As the former Chief Economist for the National Association of Realtors and the former Chief Economist for the Mortgage Bankers Association, David’s work has led him to appear on a number of national media outlets, including CNN, CNBC, The Today Show, NPR, NY Times, Washington Post and the Wall St. Journal. He has also given speeches on the financial and real estate markets across the globe.

David Lereah has testified in front of congress on two separate occasions:

  • “Lumber Prices and Affordability,” Sub-Committee on Consumer Credit and Insurance of the Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs, United States House of Representatives, March 1994.
  • “Consumer Credit Affordability,” Sub-Committee on Housing and Community Development of the Committee on Banking, Finance and Urban Affairs, United States House of Representatives, June 1995.

Dr. Lereah began his career on the faculties of Rutgers University and the University of Virginia. He earned his BA in Economics from American University and a PhD in Economics from the University of Virginia.

In addition to his wor, David is a Member of the Meals on Wheels team where he helps deliver hot meals to senior citizens in need.
